Key Products - Alpine and Mountain Cheese
The culinary treasures of Austria include the alpine cheeses from the Bregenzerwald,
which are handmade exclusively on the Alps of our region in summer.
There are over 90 alpine dairies, so called “Sennalpen”, in the Bregenzerwald. These daireis are located at altitudes from 1000 to 1800 meter above sea level. Numerous cows are grazing there in the summer months as part of the three-step agriculture.
The variety of grasses and herbs of the different alpine areas shape the taste nuances of our alpine cheeses.
Adding milk from valley farms is absolutely prohibited.
Only in the Bregenzerwald do cheese lovers experience these fine characteristic differences in taste,
where one can compare the taste of the alpine cheeses from different alpine dairies.
